Viji is the lead bioinformatician in our team. Her research focus is in identifying non-invasive biomarkers and therapeutic targets predicting disease progression in Diabetic Nephropathy and CKD in general by interrogating the genome-wide transcriptomic datasets and longitudinal clinical data along with the structural alterations. Her work also includes integrating the different omics datasets by adapting a wide variety of established and novel computational approaches to understand the underlying mechanisms in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases. She has extensive experience in using transcriptomics to identify cross species/tissue mechanisms’ between human and animal models of diabetic nephropathy and other kidney diseases. She is also involved in leading several of our collaborative projects nationally and internationally. As part of our ASBC core, she trains biologists and clinicians to use systems biology approaches relevant to their research hypothesis.
