Wenjun Ju has Ph.D. in molecular biology with many years’ experience in chronic kidney disease associated research. She previously worked in Division of Nephrology/Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, joined the University of Michigan in 2009.

Her work focuses on using transcriptome approach to identify invasive (tissue) and non-invasive (plasma and urine) biomarkers for disease progression, and more importantly, to investigate the pathological mechanisms underlying the altered gene expression and to determine interventional strategies thereby ameliorating or preventing disease progression.

She is also interested in applying integrative approach (large gene expression datasets and computational methods) to predict human kidney cell lineage-specific genes and using in vivo and in-vitro systems to understand their roles in CKD progression.
